<ul><li>We are seeking an experienced and strategic <strong>Director of Data Engineering</strong> to lead our data engineering organization. In this role, you will be responsible for building and scaling our data infrastructure, pipelines, and platforms to enable data-driven decision-making across the company. You will lead a team of data engineers, collaborate closely with data science, analytics, and software engineering teams, and define the technical vision and roadmap for our data ecosystem.</li><li>A key priority will be to lead the development of the China data platform on Alicloud, enabling scalable data capabilities and unlocking AI-driven use cases. You will drive this transformation through internal teams and external partners, acting as the bridge between technology and business.</li><li>This role requires a strong understanding of the China technology, regulatory, and consumer ecosystem, and the ability to translate and evolve global capabilities into locally relevant solutions.</li></ul><p> </p><p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Qualifications</strong></span></p><ul><li>10+ years of experience across data, engineering, or analytics roles</li><li>5+ years leading multidisciplinary teams across engineering, analytics, and data science</li><li>Proven track record of delivering complex data initiatives in fast-paced, scaling environments</li><li>Deep hands-on experience with <strong>distributed data processing frameworks</strong> (e.g., Apache Spark, Flink, DBT) and workflow orchestration (e.g., Airflow, Dagster, Prefect).</li><li>Expertise in <strong>SQL</strong> and at least one programming language (Python, Scala, Java, Go).</li><li>Proven experience with <strong>cloud data platforms</strong> especially Alicloud</li><li>Strong knowledge of <strong>data modeling</strong> (Kimball, Inmon, Data Vault) and <strong>data warehouse/lakehouse architectures</strong>.</li><li>Experience with <strong>streaming technologies</strong> (Kafka, Pulsar, Kinesis) and real-time pipelines.</li><li>Familiarity with <strong>data governance tools</strong> (e.g., Collibra, DataHub, Amundsen) and <strong>data quality frameworks</strong> (Great Expectations, dbt tests).</li><li><strong>Alicloud &amp; Data Platform Experience (Required)</strong></li></ul><ul><li>Direct experience working with Alicloud data ecosystem</li><li>Experience leading or overseeing the build or migration of data platforms on Alicloud</li><li>Strong understanding of modern data architecture, data pipelines, and cloud-based platforms</li><li><strong>Solution Architecture or Engineering Background (Highly Desired)</strong></li></ul><ul><li>Prior experience in data engineering, platform architecture, or solution architecture</li><li>Ability to guide technical design decisions and challenge engineering approaches</li><li>Strong technical credibility with engineering and IT teams</li><li><strong>AI &amp; Advanced Analytics Understanding</strong></li></ul><ul><li>Familiarity with modern AI ecosystems, including GenAI and LLM applications, and their practical business use</li></ul><p><em>By clicking 'apply', you give your express consent that Robert Half may use your personal information to process your job application and to contact you from time to time for future employment opportunities.
